THE SQUARE

south dublin city

An elegant three-bay two-storey over basement house in a leafy Dublin 6 square, this detached red-brick is a classic example of the handsome Victorian city homes developed in the late 1800s as the urban area expanded beyond the Grand Canal.

This protected structure was a family home until the 1920s. The house then served as a convent for over sixty years into the twenty-first century when it became divided into multi-occupancy dwellings.

Our clients sought to restore the house’s original character and transform it into a family home once again. Brazil Associates developed a two-storey extension and thorough refurbishment design in collaboration with Studio Brazil, ensuring the modernisation and interiors would complement the period details of the house.
